- saving you time and allowing you to get your weekends back

Balwyn North Suburb Profile

The suburb is divided into two parts – the northwest known as Bellevue and the southeast which is called Greythorn. The Greythorn area had residents since the 1830s but it was developed much later than North Balwyn. The Greythron Road of today used to be known as Whitethorn Road owing to the presence of many whitethorn hedges planted along the road. However, it was later renamed as Greythorn in 1920s to avoid people getting confused with the Whitehorse Road.

The main commercial area in the suburb is known as The Village where many shops are located. It can be found at the intersection of Doncaster and Bulleen Roads.
Other shopping strips in Balwyn North include the Greythorn Village, East Balwyn Shopping Centre and Belmore Heights Shopping Centre.
