Located 14km north of Melbourne’s CBD, and part of the City of Darebin, Kingsbury is an established suburb with majority of homes built in the 1960s from either weatherboard or brick. Kingsbury was named after Bruce Kingsbury VC, who died in the Second World War.
Prior to being developed in the 1960s, Kingsbury had a golf course running through it, which is why half of the street names are made up of golfing terms. Now, throughout the suburb is beautiful reserve parkland and playgrounds. Kevin P Hardiman Reserve which carries through it the Darebin Creek bike trail the reserve also has a children’s playground. C.W Kirkwood reserve and Link Playground are also located in Kingsbury.
Kingsbury is served by bus route 561 from Macleod Train Station, on the Hurstbridge line and tram route 86 which runs down Plenty Road. The nearest train station is the Reservoir Train Station, on the Mernda railway line.
