Northcote is a sought after suburb in Melbourne’s inner north-east, located just 6km from the CBD. It forms part of the City of Darebin and at the 2016 Census its population was 24,561.
The suburb of Northcote is both vibrant and steeped in history. You’ll discover superb boutique and antique stores along busy High Street as well as a diverse offering of cuisines and live entertainment. Popular venues include the Northcote Social Club, Northcote Town Hall and Regal Ballroom.

Recreation
Northcote residents are spoilt for choice when it comes to recreational spaces, sports clubs and leisure facilities. Along the western boundary of the suburb runs Merri Creek, where many trails and picnic areas can be found.
There are several large parks in Northcote including Merri Park, Gumbri Park, All Nations Park and McDonell Park. Just a 5-10 minute drive south of Northcote is Yarra Bend Park, which is home to a colony of more than 30,000 grey-headed flying foxes.

Public Transport
Northcote is a very accessible suburb when using public transport. Trains on the Mernda line and the Hurstbridge line pass through the area from the CBD throughout the week.
The number 86 tram travels along High Street, making it a very convenient option for shopping and dining out. Additionally, the number 11 tram travels along St George’s Road. Both of these tram services provide another way to easily access the CBD as well as suburbs to the north. A number of bus services also frequent Northcote.
