One suburb in Melbourne close to the Central Business District is Pascoe Vale. Situated 10 kilometers north of the CBD, it has a population of 17,051 and is part of the City of Moreland.
Named after the John Pascoe Fawkner Estate, the suburb has less culturally diverse population. Mostly Australian born citizens are residing in the area compared to those born overseas. The 2016 Australian census showed that 62.2 percent of people in Pascoe Vale were born in Australia. Other nationalities living there are Indians, British, Pakistanis and Greeks.
Recreation
Pascoe Vale has several spaces for recreation. These include parks and gardens for the nature lovers such as the Austin Reserve, Cole Reserve, Gavin Park and Kelvin Thomson Reserve. These areas share the Moonee Ponds Creek which is a major stormwater canal.
There are also takeaway stores, cafes and restaurants around the suburb.

Families who want to live near a school zone have many choices in Pascoe Vale. Educational institutions in place are the Pascoe Vale Girls’ College, Westbreen Primary School, Pascoe Vale Primary School, Pascoe Vale North Primary School, St. Oliver Plunkett Primary School, Pascoe Vale South Primary School and St francis de sales located on Pascoe Vale Road.
Sports Clubs
Sports enthusiasts can look forward to joining sports clubs while in the suburb. Clubs they can join are the Pascoe Vale Soccer Club, Pascoe Vale Football Club, Pascoe Vale Cricket Club, Coburg Districts Football Club, St Andrews Cricket Club, Park Panthers Netball Club, and Pascoe Vale Ice Fighters.
Transportation
The suburb is easily accessible via public transport such as the Craigieburn railway line and tram route 58. It is only a few minutes to the CBD and the airport.
There is also the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail that cyclists can use.
