Originally part of Somerton, Roxburgh Park is located 21km north Melbourne’s CBD. Roxburgh Park gets its name from the property “Roxburgh” and prior to the construction the area was the subject of a design by architect Philip Treeby for a garden suburb in 1889.
The Victorian Government’s Urban and Regional Land Corporation purchased land in the area in 1988 to plan and develop Roxburgh Park, a community with a balance of residential and industrial land, along with public reserves, community services and access to transport.
There are several schools in Roxburgh Park, including Roxburgh Park PS, Roxburgh Rise PS, Roxburgh Homestead PS, Good Samatiran Catholic PS and Roxburgh College.
Roxburgh Park is home to three large shopping centres, with 2 located on Somerton Road and the third on Pascoe Vale Road. Additionally, there is Roxy Central which offers convenience stores such as Foodworks and many different local small businesses.
Public transport within the suburb is abundant, which seven bus routes, Roxburgh Park station and Broadmeadows Valley Trail available.
