With the Melbourne market back into Stage Three restrictions due to mounting cased of coronavirus, buyers appear to be getting used to the “new normal” of online selling options.
The Melbourne auction market recorded a 88 percent auction clearance rate (based on REIV data), up from 71 percent last week. At the same time last year, the clearance rate was 76 per cent.
This result is based on 211 auctions reported across Melbourne. 104 homes were sold at auction, 80 before auction with 26 homes passed in (12 on a vendor bid). 181 homes were withdrawn from sale.
Whilst the overall volume of sales is low, the healthy clearance rate does point to some confidence returning to the market for buyers that are still looking to buy right now.
