If you’re looking to buy a home, leading up to Christmas is actually a great time to buy. 

There are plenty of off-market properties available right now, with both agents and vendors keen to finalise all property sales before the Christmas period.

It’s prime selling season – which is great news for buyers! Off market homes (which we can introduce you to), pre-market properties and existing stock are all being offered for sale. This means there is some flexibility on pricing for various properties, and right now we’re finding that if the agent has a buyer in front of them ready to go, they are selling to that buyer.

We know that everybody is super busy at this time of year, and sometimes buying a home can take a back seat to Christmas preparations. But it would be a disservice to you not to advise you that it really is prime buying time between now and Christmas.

There is also a high probability that the market will shift upwards in 2026, with predictions of price increases in the order of six percent, leading the Melbourne property market closer to Sydney prices. Simply put, your dollar will buy less the further into 2026 we go.
