PropTrack data analysts recently assessed the 20 top suburbs around the country that attracted the most email enquiries from first home buyers.
The analysis of email enquiries by first home buyers to agents on realestate.com.au during August showed that first home buyers around the country were most interested in units in the Melbourne CBD, followed by Parramatta in Sydney and Brisbane City.
The research indicates that Victorian first home buyers were the most actively engaged in the country, with ten out of the top twenty suburbs on the email enquiry list based in Victoria.
In the Top 20 Australian Suburbs, units in the Melbourne CBD took out the no.1 spot, followed by Point Cook (houses) at no.6, Tarneit (houses) at no.7, Craigieburn (houses) at no.8, Werribee (houses) at no.9, South Yarra (units) at no.10, Hawthorn (units) at no.14, Pakenham (houses) at no.15, Southbank (units) at no.19 and St Kilda (units) rounding out the list in 20th spot.
Escalating property prices and the repeated interest rate rises over the past year have made it increasingly difficult for first home buyers to get a foot in the door. Of the top 20 suburbs receiving email enquiries from first-home buyers, 60% were for units and the remainder for houses in outer suburbs, indicating first home buyers willingness to compromise on location or size.
