The week ending the 12th February, 2022 saw 1082 Melbourne properties scheduled for auction. Of these, 440 properties were sold and 126 were passed in. Five properties sold after auction and four prior to auction. This was a clearance rate of 78% based on 575 auction results available (according to realestate.com.au data) . This is a slight decrease from last week’s clearance rate of 82% and well below this time last year, which had a clearance rate of 94%, according to the Real Estate Institute of Victoria.
Despite the Omicron wave in Melbourne, the property market is off to a strong start and according to realestate.com.au, January 2022 has been the busiest for new listings since January 2011. It is anticipated that February will see a notable rise in auction listings by the end of the month, as the property market continues to pick up again.
