After one week of eased restrictions, Melbourne residents are facing another lockdown going into this weekend. This means that the restrictions which applied to real estate services in our fifth lockdown have been reimposed. This will no doubt have an impact on the plans of buyers and sellers over the next 7 days – and particularly this weekend.
Two of the most wide-reaching restrictions for the industry are:
- Property auctions can only be conducted remotely (i.e. online)
- Final inspections and signing of contracts must be done remotely or postponed under the current restrictions
There’s always a range of specific questions that arise in this situation and the most likely and reliable source of an answer is the Victorian Government’s COVIDsafe Settings: Homes and Property page.
Home buyers should be confident that online auctions are a great way to view and bid for property. They are very seamlessly conducted and offer the convenience of attending auctions from the comfort of your home.
