What’s your favourite season?

We enjoy the cosy glow of toasty fires and cheeky red wines but we’re glad when winter comes to an end. And while we love outdoor dining in summertime and the taste of a refreshing G&T, we soon start complaining about unrelenting summer heat. That’s when we start looking forward to the cooler temperatures again, and the vibrant hues of autumn leaves.

So, what about spring? This fickle season that leaves our heads spinning as it blends all of the above from one day to the next. Who loves spring best? Not hayfever sufferers, that’s for sure!

People who say spring is their favourite season are those who embrace change and new beginnings. The opportunity to ‘spring clean’ the home and clear out the cobwebs of winter gives some people a renewed zest for life. Spring’s warm sunshine, blue skies and blossoming gardens puts a sparkle back in the smile of many others.

If spring is motivating you to make changes, you’ll love this season’s home decorating trends…

The sleek and chic minimalist look of past years remains long gone, replaced by decor bursting with personality. Natural textures, earthy tones and block colours all feature in furnishings as well as fixtures and fittings this spring.

Sustainability remains high on the agenda, whether you’re building, renovating or simply redecorating. Eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient choices are high priorities as we see a trend towards furniture repurposing and organic materials.

New home designs continue to incorporate the separate study, upstairs study ‘nook’ or stylish work-from-home space in open plan living, a left-over trend from covid days.

Another covid-inspired trend is outdoor living, where we’ve gained a greater appreciation for the green serenity of leafy outdoor spaces. The alfresco remains an essential, while big and bold household plants bring the outdoorsy theme indoors.
