Rental properties are now eligible for a $1000 rebate to replace inefficient heaters and coolers through the Home Heating and Cooling Upgrades Program.
The rebate is designed to support rental providers install the most effective and efficient heating and cooling system for the home in the hope of making rental properties safer, healthier and more comfortable.
Individual rental providers are eligible for this rebate, along with entities such as corporations, trusts and partnerships.
To be eligible, rental properties must be:
- earning $500 or less in weekly rent, or
- occupied by renters who have a valid concession card, or
- occupied by renters with a combined income below $90,000, or
- unoccupied with a potential to earn $500 or less in weekly rent.
Other rebates are available for capping old gas heaters and upgrading electrical switchboards. For more information about these rebates, including eligibility criteria and instructions on how to apply, click here.
